Hobbywing RPM Sensor (99060)
The Hobbywing RPM Sensor is a compact accessory designed for high-voltage speed controllers. It detects voltage changes on the brushless motor wires and converts them into a precise RPM signal for your flybarless or governor system.
Overview & Function
This sensor reads the electrical pulses from the motor leads and outputs a clean RPM signal that can be used by:
- Hobbywing HV ESCs
- Many other helicopter ESC brands
- Flybarless systems such as the Mikado VBar (as RPM input)
It’s a simple and reliable way to provide accurate head-speed data to your FBL or governor, especially on high-voltage setups.
Specifications
- Size: 23 × 10 × 2 mm
- Weight: 6 g (including input and output wires)
- Working Voltage: 3.5 V – 8.4 V (1S–2S LiPo)
- Current Draw: 1 – 5 mA
- Supported Motor Voltage: 2S – 16S LiPo
- RPM Range (2-pole motor): 1,000 – 300,000 RPM
- Operating Temperature: 0°C – 50°C (32°F – 122°F)
Wiring & Setup

The sensor has two single leads and one three-wire connector:
- Lead A & Lead B: Connect to any two of the brushless motor wires (polarity does not matter).
-
3-wire plug (Lead C):
– Black: Ground
– Red: 3.3 V or 5 V power
– White: RPM signal output to FBL / governor
After wiring, configure your flybarless or governor system to read an external RPM sensor, following the setup instructions of your specific unit (e.g., Mikado VBar).
