The OMPHOBBY M5 was developed to bring the proven precision, durability, and high-performance feel of the flagship M7 into a lighter and more compact 550–580mm class helicopter. Designed for everything from smooth low-RPM cruising and scale-style flying to aggressive 3D performance, the M5 is built to be versatile, precise, and easy to maintain.

Sharing over 90% of its parts with the larger OMPHOBBY M6, the M5 gives pilots a flexible airframe platform with excellent parts commonality, simple maintenance, and a familiar design approach across both models.

The M5 combines a rigid carbon fiber frame, lightweight aluminum main plate, integrated wiring paths, quick-release battery and canopy systems, and an efficient servo layout into one clean and modern helicopter platform. Whether you are building a powerful 3D machine or a smooth sport setup, the M5 is designed to deliver a locked-in, confidence-inspiring flying experience.

🚁 Designed for 550–580mm Blades

The M5 is designed for 550mm to 580mm main rotor blades and 93mm to 96mm tail blades, making it an excellent choice for pilots looking for a lightweight yet powerful mid-size helicopter. It is optimized for modern 6S to 8S power systems, giving pilots the flexibility to build either an efficient sport machine or a high-output 3D setup.

🔧 Modern Frame Design

The airframe combines design elements from both the M4 and M7 into a refined, easy-to-work-on platform. The open frame layout provides excellent access for maintenance, while the layered carbon fiber construction and aluminum main plate create a very stiff and lightweight structure.

Integrated wire routing helps keep electronics clean and organized, while the compact servo rack makes installation simple. The M5 is designed around modern 15mm cyclic and tail servos, and it can also be converted to 20mm servos using compatible M6 parts if desired.

🎯 M7-Derived Main Rotor System

The M5 uses a main rotor system derived directly from the larger OMPHOBBY M7. With long control throws, integrated retained blade washers, heavy-duty 5mm ball links, two damping options, and a large-diameter rotor head mounted on a 12mm main shaft, the M5 delivers precise cyclic response and a very connected feel in the air.

This rotor system gives the M5 the locked-in stability of a larger helicopter while still keeping the agility and light feel expected from a 550-class machine.

🌀 Strong Tail Authority

The tail system follows the same proven design philosophy as the M7, using a one-piece aluminum tail case, slop-free bell crank mechanism, robust tail rotor components, and an ultralight 28mm carbon fiber tail boom. Despite being downsized for the M5, the tail retains a 6mm tail shaft and 5mm spindle shaft for excellent strength and reliability.

The 6mm tail belt can be adjusted conveniently using the same style of helically driven belt tensioner system found on the M7.

⚙️ Flexible Drivetrain & Battery Layout

With multiple pinion options available from 11T to 15T, the M5 allows pilots to fine-tune the gear ratio for their preferred flying style. The motor mount rides on rails attached to the main plate, improving rigidity and helping keep motor and main shaft alignment consistent.

The spacious battery bay measures approximately 58 × 70 × 300mm, giving pilots plenty of flexibility for different battery configurations. The battery tray uses a convenient twist-lock system derived from the M7, making battery changes quick and secure.

🎨 Color Options

The M5 is available in four bold canopy color schemes: Cosmic Orange, Solar Yellow, Aurora Green, and Nebula Pink. Cosmic Orange and Solar Yellow follow OMPHOBBY’s classic styling with refined black accent lines, while Aurora Green and Nebula Pink feature an inverted color design with a bright white windshield, neon accents, and blacked-out branding.
